Growing up on the island of Moloka’i, Kuʻulani was raised with a deep sense of the interconnectedness of people to place and to one another and that the health of these relationships are integral to living and thriving on an island. Alongside her husband, Jake, she co-founded Maui Nui Venison, working to balance Axis deer populations on Maui to solve for the unique challenges of this species in Hawaiʻi, while also channeling that work into nutrient-dense food for our communities.
Ku’ulani is a firm believer in the power of story and, while raising keiki, turned to writing and illustrative work as modes of storytelling. Within Maui Nui, as Brand Director, she works to tell Maui Nuiʻs story in continuum with the long-running stories that situate and ground us all in the larger context of place. She and her husband Jake, along with their three young children, reside in Kahua, Hawaiʻi.”
